Note: The Debris Guarding Solutions listed are not a substitute for the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) instructions that the operator performs a daily walk-around inspection of the machine. The walk-around inspection includes checking for debris buildup on the machine, especially around components like the engine, cooling system (hydraulic cooler and radiator), hydraulic pumps, drive motors, and cylinders. Walk-around inspections need to occur daily in all applications and more frequently in airborne debris laden environments.Maintenance Guidelines
When operating in airborne debris laden environment, preventing debris from collecting in all areas of the machine is impossible. This debris, in itself, may increase the risk of fire, and when mixed with fuel, oil, or grease in a hot or confined place, the risk of fire is compounded. This can be done in multiple ways but the most common are to clear debris by hand, with an air compressor, or forced air blower, such as a leaf blower. The following guidelines should be used in addition to the standard maintenance practices. In no case should the guidelines be used, or assumed as replacements, for diligent operator efforts to keep the machine free of debris.Implementing the following guidelines will help keep your equipment up and running as well as minimize the risk of damage.
The Turbo Guard Kit and the Debris Kit are required in applications with the potential for airborne debris, such as mulching, brush cutting, forestry applications, mowing, certain agricultural applications, paper recycling, etc. See below for details on all kits
Maintain a charged fire extinguisher on the machine at all times and ensure that every operator knows how to use the extinguisher. It is also recommended to have another larger fire extinguisher on the jobsite.
Local fire suppression installers are available and can be contacted through your dealer network for a quote on fire suppression installation.
Inspect the machine prior to any shift for signs of fluid leakage (fuel, hydraulic oil, engine oil, and coolant). Check for worn or eroded fuel, hydraulic lines, electrical wiring defects, and loose connections. Repair as needed before starting up the machine.
At a minimum daily clean out all accumulated debris (twigs, pine needles, branches, bark, leaves, saw dust, small wood chips, mulch, and any other combustible materials) around the engine belts, engine pulleys, top of fuel tank, between engine and fuel tank, top of valve cover, lift towers and inside the machine belly pan.
