Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change". Note: In addition to the weight of the bottom guard, bottom guards may contain approximately 90 kg (200 lb) of the following objects: loose bolts, tools, rocks, dirt, liquids and debris.

Use Tooling (A) to support middle bottom guard (1). The weight of the middle bottom guard is approximately 35 kg (77 lb). Remove the bolts and middle bottom guard (1).

Remove hose assemblies (1), (3), and (5) from valve block (6). Remove hose assemblies (2) and (4) from valve block (6).

Disconnect harness assemblies (7).
Remove bolts (8), the washers, and the clips and remove valve block (6).

Remove nut (9) and washer (10). Remove coil assembly (11).
Remove cartridge assembly (12).

Remove backup ring (13) and O-ring seal (14) from valve assembly (12). Remove backup ring (15) and O-ring seal (16) from the valve assembly. Remove O-ring seal (17) from the cartridge assembly.

Remove nut (19) and washer (20) and remove coil assembly (21).
Remove cartridge assembly (18).

Remove O-ring seals (25), (24), (23), and (22) from cartridge assembly (18).
Remove backup rings (26), (27), and (28) from the cartridge assembly.

Remove remaining plugs (29). Each plug has an O-ring seal. Inspect the O-ring seals for damage or for wear. Replace the O-ring seals, if necessary.
