A 1P-1861 Retaining Ring Pliers 1 Start By:
Remove the track rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced. Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use a hammer and a punch to remove the plug from stopper (2). Note: Removal of the plug and stopper (2) requires damaging stopper (2).
Use a drill and a 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) drill bit to remove stopper (2) from the shaft.
Use lock ring (3) and end collar (1) from both sides of the track roller.

Remove Duo-Cone seal assembly (4) from end collar (1).

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (5) from rim assembly (6). Repeat this step for the other side of the track roller.

Use a press and roller shaft (7) to remove the bushing assembly on the opposite side.

Rotate the track roller 180 degrees. Use a press and roller shaft (7) to remove the remaining bushing assembly.

Remove O-ring seals (8) from roller shaft (7).

Remove O-ring seal (9) from bushing assembly (10).
Remove Duo-Cone seal kit (11) from bushing (10).
