Be aware of other machines or persons in the dump area.Be sure no one is under the body (bed) when raising it. Frozen material in the corners of the body (bed) loosen in the warm shop and slide out. The machine will not move backward while the body (bed) is being raised. The machine will roll, if the parking brake or service brake are not applied.The machine can be moved forward while the body (bed) is being raised.Shipping and Assembly

Do not attempt to move the machine without normal brake air pressure. Be sure the machine body is lowered and the hoist control is in the FLOAT position. 1. The retarder control lever (1) should be in the UP position.2. The secondary brake lever (2) should be in the UP position. 3. Move the parking brake switch to the OFF position. 4. Move the transmission selector lever to the desired direction and speed.5. Release the service brake and depress the accelerator.
Do not exceed 2300 rpm or engine damage may result.
6. Operate the engine between 1300 to 1950 rpm normally. Keep rpm 1700 to 2000 rpm while retarding, to get sufficient brake cooling oil flow.Stopping the Machine with Secondary Brake System
1. If the low air pressure alarm sounds and the brake air pressure indicator is on, stop the machine.2. To stop the machine, depress the service brake pedal. 3. If the service brake pedal does not stop the machine, pull the secondary brake lever and hold down until machine stops. 4. When the machine stops, wait until the air pressure builds up. If the air pressure will not build up, have repairs made.
When parking on a slope, always block the wheels securely before leaving the machine unattended.After an emergency stop, do not operate the machine until a complete check has been made of the entire braking system and any necessary repairs have been made.
In an emergency, the machine can be moved to the side of the road, in 1st speed range, with the secondary brake applied.
Changing Gear Speed and Direction
The transmission will automatically shift up or down between 1st and the selected top forward operating range.The downshift inhibitor prevents the overriding of the automatic shifting, if the shift would overspeed the engine.The operator can manually move the shift lever, but the transmission will not downshift until the proper ground speed is attained.When changing direction, stop the machine and reduce the engine rpm to LOW IDLE. Move the transmission selector lever to the desired direction. Shifts to reverse while moving will damage the reverse clutches.Protection is built into the transmission control. Reverse shifts made while going 5 Km/h (3 mph) or more will not occur.
To avoid striking overpasses, electrical power lines and obstructions, always lower the body (bed) before moving the machine.
Automatic Electronic Traction Aid (AETA) - If Equipped
