View with Radiator Removed from Machine - Typical Example1. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (3) from towing brake release cylinder (2). 2. Remove four bolts (4) and washers that hold towing brake release cylinder (2) to the rear frame. Remove the towing brake release cylinder. The following steps are for the installation of the towing brake release cylinder.3. Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the outside of the towing brake release cylinder. Install towing brake release cylinder (2) in the rear frame as shown.4. Clean threads with Locquic Primer and apply Loctite 277 or similar thread lock prior to assembly. Install four bolts (4) and washers that hold towing brake release cylinder (2) to the rear frame. Tighten to a torque of 215 40 N m (160 30 lb ft).5. Connect hose assemblies (1) and (3) to towing brake release cylinder (2).6. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to R1600 L.H.D. Operation & Maintenance Manual, Form No. SEBU7322 (9EP0575) for the correct filling procedure.7. Bleed the towing brake release cylinder. Refer to Remove Air from the Braking System, R1600 L.H.D. Braking System, Systems Operation, Testing & Adjusting, Form No. RENR4626 (9EP0566).End by:a. Remove steering frame lock pin.Disassemble & Assemble Towing Brake Release Cylinder
Start by:a. Remove towing brake release cylinder.1. Be sure all parts of the towing brake release cylinder are thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris prior to assembly. Check the condition of all seals. If any of the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. There is a compressed spring (3) inside the towing brake release cylinder. When bolts (1) are removed, the spring pressure is released.2. Evenly loosen, then remove six bolts (1) from the towing brake release cylinder to release spring (3).3. Remove cap (2) and spring (3) from the towing brake release cylinder. Remove O-ring seal (4) from cap (2).4. Remove piston (11) from sleeve (6).5. Remove seal assembly (5) and wear ring (7) from piston (11).6. Remove lip seal (10), U-type seal (9) and seal assembly (8) from sleeve (6). The following steps are for the assembly of the towing brake release cylinder.7. Install seal assembly (8), U-type seal (9) and lip seal (10) in sleeve (6). Put a coat of clean oil on the seal assembly, U-type seal and lip seal.8. Install seal assembly (5) and wear ring (7) on piston (11). Put a coat of clean oil on the seal assembly and wear ring.9. Install piston (11) in sleeve (6).10. Install spring (3) in the towing brake release cylinder.11. Put 5P-0960 Lubricant on O-ring seal (4) and install on cap (2). Position cap (2) on sleeve (6).12. Clean threads with Locquic Primer and apply Loctite 271 or similar thread lock prior to assembly. Install six bolts (1) and tighten evenly to compress spring (3). Tighten to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).End by:a. Install towing brake release cylinder.
