Operation Modes and Logic
The hoppers have multiple control and operation modes. The functionality depends on mode selected on display (8).In the INDEPENDENT HOPPER mode, the hopper switches and apron fold switches all function as a momentary-type switch. When the operator releases the switch, the requested action stops. When the right hopper raise switch is actuated, machine ECM (22) energizes right hopper-raise solenoid (16). In this case, the right hopper is raised. When the right hopper lower switch is actuated, machine ECM (22) energizes right hopper-lower solenoid (17). In this case, the right hopper is lowered.Note: The logic for the left hopper switches and left apron fold switches is similar to the right hopper when operated in the INDEPENDENT HOPPER mode.Note: There is no hopper apron installed on this machine. The apron fold buttons control the operation of both hoppers. These switches will raise and lower both hoppers simultaneously, even if the hopper system is operating in INDEPENDENT HOPPER mode.In the DUAL HOPPER mode, the hopper switches function as a momentary-type switch. When the operator releases the switch, the requested action stops. When the right or left hopper raise switch is actuated, machine ECM (22) energizes right hopper-raise solenoid (16) and left hopper-raise solenoid (18). In this case, both hoppers are raised. When the right or left hopper lower switch is actuated, machine ECM (22) energizes right hopper-lower solenoid (17) and left hopper-lower solenoid (19). In this case, both hoppers are lowered. When the auto hopper switch is pressed once, the AUTO mode is enabled. AUTO mode functions with independent hopper and dual hopper operations. A second depression of the auto hopper switch disables the AUTO mode. The hopper and apron fold switches function as on/off switches in AUTO mode. When a hopper or apron fold switch is pressed once, the requested action is enabled. When the operator presses the same switch again, the requested action stops. The AUTO mode function sets the hopper functions to operate on a stroke timer. The stroke timer is based on the time required for a hopper cylinder to move through the limit of the stroke. The cylinder stroke time for raising one or both hoppers is 7 seconds. The cylinder stroke time for lowering one or both hoppers is 6 seconds. When any hopper or apron fold switch is pressed, the selected hoppers move to the end point of the action requested. The operator may press more than one switch at a time. During cylinder movement, the operator can cancel the action requested by pressing the associated switch again. If the auto switch is pressed during cylinder movement, all commanded actions are canceled. When either the right or left hopper raise switch is actuated, machine ECM (22) energizes both hopper-raise solenoids (16) and (18). In this case, both hoppers are raised simultaneously until
