Note: The slow return check valve is mounted to the main control valve.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" in this manual.
Drain the oil from the hydraulic oil tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 150 L (40 US gal).

Remove four bolts (1), the washers and cover plate (2) above the main control valve.
Oil will drain from the hose assemblies and the pipe assemblies when the hose and pipe assemblies are disconnected from the slow return check valve. Place a suitable container under the slow return check valve in order to contain the oil.

Disconnect hose assembly (3) from the slow return check valve. Put a plug in the end of the hose assembly in order to prevent oil loss and keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system.
Remove six bolts (7) and the washers. Disconnect pipe assembly (4) from the slow return check valve and the cooler bypass check valve. Remove the pipe assembly from the machine.
Remove four bolts (5) and the washers that hold slow return check valve (7) to the main control valve. Remove the slow return check valve from the machine. Remove the O-ring seal from the body of the slow return check valve. Installation Procedure
Illustration 3 g00543313Note: Check the condition of the O-ring seal that is in the body of the slow return check valve prior to installation.
Install the O-ring into the body of slow return check valve (7). Place slow return check valve (7) in position on the main control valve. Install four bolts (5) and the washers that secure the slow return check valve to the main control valve. Note: Check the condition of the O-ring seal that is used in pipe assembly (4) prior to installation. If the O-ring seal is damaged, use a new part for replacement.
Connect pipe assembly (4) to the slow return check valve and the cooler bypass check valve. Install six bolts (7) and the washers that secure the pipe assembly.
Remove the plug from the end of hose assembly (3) that connects to the slow return check
