Do not move the hoist control to the LOWER position when the body retaining cable is installed between the dump body and the rear tow pin. When the hoist control is in the LOWER position, hydraulic force may cause the body retaining cable to fail with the potential for injury or death.
1. Inspect the body. Repair the body if damaged or worn.2. Raise the body (bed) until the rear tow pin at the rear of the machine aligns with the retaining cable end from the body (bed). Install the rear tow pin. 3. Clean the areas shown in the illustration with a wire brush or scraper. If cracks or damage is found, contact your Caterpillar dealer for specific repair procedures.Brake Oil Cooler Screens
Clean Screens
There are three screens to clean. One is located in the cooler line behind the operator's compartment and the other two are located under the right side of the machine, between the engine and frame. 1. Remove drain plug from the cooler and drain the oil. Clean and install the drain plug.2. Remove the bolts from each end of the adapter. To prevent damage to the screen hold the screen in place in the adapter when removing. Clean the screens after there has been a failure in the brake circuit.3. Remove the adapter and screen. Clean the screen and adapter in clean, nonflammable solvent. 4. Install the screen in the adapter, with the cone shaped end pointing the same direction as the arrow. Inspect the seal in each end of the adapter. Replace them if they are damaged.5. Install the adapter and screen assembly in the cooler. Tighten the bolts.6. Start the engine and run it at low idle. Check for leaks. 7. Check the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic system oil level. Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark in the sight gauge.8. Add oil if necessary.Hoist Return and Suction Screens
