Information:
1 Drain the coolant from the cylinder block. Remove the center core plug (1) from each side of the engine. For engines that have sound suppression panels, the centerline of the core plug must be found and marked, before removal of the panels. Find the centerline of the plug as follows:A. On both sides of the cylinder block, measure along the surface of the panels, from the bottom edge of the cylinder block top deck (surface) for dimension (A), which is 5.70" (144.8).B. Dimensions (B) and (C) are measured from the front face of the cylinder block. Dimension (B), for the right side of the cylinder block, is 12.39" (314.7). Dimension (C), for the left side of the cylinder block, is 13.39" (340.1). Put a mark on each panel at the point where dimensions (A) and (C) and (A) and (B) come together, (this is the approximate centerline for plugs (1) on each side of the engine).2 Remove the sound suppression panels, if so equipped. Use the mark (found in step 1B) as the center, and make a hole approximately 2.50" Ø (63.5 Ø) in each panel. 3 Remove any paint, sealant or rough edges in or around the area of the bore where the core plugs were removed. Install 9N3834 Element (1), 6N9121 Gasket (2), 6N9119 Adapter (3), 3H1461 Seal (4), 6N9122 Split Ring (5), 6N9123 Plate (6) and 2R1980 Nut (7). Make sure that element (1) is not in contact with the inside of the cylinder block, and then tighten nut (7). Use the same procedure to install both elements (1). Install the sound suppression panels, if so equipped. 4 Install a 6N1604 Cap (8), as shown, for each element (1). Caps (8) are used as dust covers when electrical cords (9) are removed for any reason.5 Install the electrical cords (9) that come with the heater group. (Electrical cords (9) can either be two separate cords, or one 9N3830 Cord Assembly.) Be sure to put the terminals of cords (9) in alignment with the terminals of elements (1) before nuts (10) are tightened. For electrical supply to the heaters, use electrical wire and connections that have a minimum capacity of 20 amps.
