Diagnostic Trouble Codes for the DEF Pump
J1939 Code and Description Pre-Condition for Code Comments
4355-2
Aftertreatment #1 DEF Line Heater #2 : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect - Battery voltage is normal
- Key switch signal (ECM: V13 & V33, DCU: 18 terminal) is continuously activated more than 2 sec
- Starter Switch signal (ECM: V12 terminal) is not activated except within 2 sec after starter stopped
- CAN communication is normal between DCU and engine ECM
- Heater relay is activated. When the DEF pump heater is operating, the DEF pump heater current monitoring voltage is between 1.17 V and 3.39 V for at least 150 msec.
Stop DEF pump heater.
Note: (*1) "Monitoring voltage" mentioned is not a voltage at the ECM terminal but a voltage at inside microprocessor terminal.
4355-3
Aftertreatment #1 DEF Line Heater #2 : Voltage Above Normal - Battery voltage is normal
- Key switch signal (ECM: V13 & V33, DCU: 18 terminal) is continuously activated more than 2 sec
- Starter Switch signal (ECM: V12 terminal) is not activated except within 2 sec after starter stopped
- CAN communication is normal between DCU and engine ECM When the DEF pump heater is not operating, the DEF pump heater terminal monitoring voltage (*1) is 1.937 V or more for at least 150 msec.
Stop DEF pump heater.
Note: (*1) "Monitoring voltage" mentioned is not a voltage at the ECM terminal but a voltage at inside microprocessor terminal.
4355-4
Aftertreatment #1 DEF Line Heater #2 : Voltage Below Normal When DEF pump heater is operating, the DEF pump heater terminal monitoring voltage is 0.503V or less for at least 150 msec.
Stop DEF pump heater.
4355-5
Aftertreatment #1 DEF Line Heater #2 : Current Below Normal When the DEF pump heater is not operating, the DEF pump heater terminal monitoring voltage (*1) is between 0.502 V and 1.938 V for at least 150 msec.
Stop DEF pump heater.
Note: (*1) "Monitoring voltage" mentioned is not a voltage at the ECM terminal but a voltage at inside microprocessor terminal.
Follow the troubleshooting procedure to identify the root cause of the problem.
