Park the machine on a level surface. Fully retract the boom and fully lower the boom. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position and ensure that the parking brake is engaged.
Ensure that the machine is at operating temperature of approximately 60 °C (140°F). Shut of the engine.
Jack up the machine until the wheels are clear of the ground. Support the machine on suitable stands.

Disconnect harness (1) from the potentiometer on the brake pedal.

Location of the test point (2) Test point
Remove the plug from test point (2) .
Install tooling (A) in test point (2) .
Start the engine and set the engine to idling speed.
Release the parking brake.
Press the service brake control until the maximum operational position has been reached.
Move the transmission control in the cab to the FORWARD position.Note: Ensure that the transmission control is in the HIGH SPEED position. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Control".
Increase the engine speed slowly to a nominal speed. Observe the pressure reading on the gauge during this procedure. When the engine speed increases the gauge should display a maximum pressure between 18000 kPa (2611 psi) and 20000 kPa (2901 psi). The pressure should then return to zero.
Release the service brake control and move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position.
Apply the parking brake.
Reconnect the harness to the potentiometer on the service brake control. Refer to Illustration 1.
Lower the machine to the ground.Adjusting the Pressure in the Control Valve
Use the following procedure to adjust the pressure in the control valve.
Repeat step 2 through step 10 in the "Checking the Pressure in the Control Valve" topic.

Loosen locknut (1).
Screw adjusting screw (2) clockwise in order to increase the pressure. Observe the pressure on the gauge. The gauge should display a maximum pressure between 18000 kPa (2611 psi) and 20000 kPa (2901 psi).
When the desired pressure is reached, tighten the locknut.
Repeat step 12 through 15 in the "Checking the Pressure in the Control Valve" topic.
