150-3992 Timing Pin 1
Set the number one piston at top center on the compression stroke. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center Position for No. 1 Pistion" for the correct procedure. Note: Do not remove the timing pins after finding top center on the compression stroke.

(1) Hole for timing pin for the fuel pump
(2) Hole for camshaft pin
(3) Hole for crankshaft pin
Insert the 150-3992 Timing Pin through the hole in the fuel pump gear and through the slot in the hub. Push the timing pin fully into the hole in the body of the fuel injection pump.
The timing of the fuel pump is correct when all three of the timing pins are in the position. Note: If the 150-3992 Timing Pin cannot be pushed into the body of the fuel injection pump, then the fuel pump gear must be realigned on the hub on the fuel injection pump shaft.Note: Some Bosch VP30 fuel injection pumps do not have a locking screw. For the procedure to check the fuel injection pump, follow steps 3.a to 3.c.

Typical example
Rotate the hub (5) in a clockwise direction from the front of the engine.
Align the slot in the hub to the body of the fuel injection pump in order to install the 150-3992 Timing Pin. Install the 150-3992 Timing Pin through the hub (5) and into the fuel injection pump.
As the timing pin is installed, the timing for the fuel injection pump is correct. The fuel injection pump can be mechanically timed to the engine. Note: Do not loosen the nut (4) from the fuel injection pump. The hub (5) on the fuel injection pump is installed to the shaft in the factory in order to ensure that the fuel injection pump is in the correct position for timing. If the nut (4) is loosened and the hub moves, the hub will need to be accurately installed to the fuel injection pump by an authorized dealer before the fuel injection pump can be installed to the engine.
Remove all three timing pins and install the removed components.
