(2) Use solder consisting of 97% lead (Pb), 2.5% tin (SN) and 0.5% silver (Ag) or 95% lead, 3.8% tin and 1.2% silver to seal the top and bottom of the three tubes at each of the four corners as shown. After soldering, cut the sealed tubes at locations (A). Pressure test radiator core (1).
If the tubes are not cut, the top will be stiffened and adjacent open tubes can fail.
(3) Put two 4W2068 Blocks (2) in position on each radiator support channel as shown. Make a 6.0 mm (0.24") fillet weld along edges (B) and (C) of each block. Some support channels are riveted. These rivets must be removed before installation of blocks (2). (4) With 4W2069 Brackets (3) and 4W2070 Brackets (4) in position on the core as shown, install eight T573 Bolts (5), sixteen 9L9132 Washers and eight 9S8752 Nuts (6). Install eight S1585 Bolts (7) and eight 5P8245 Washers. Position the brackets approximately 1.52 mm (0.060") from the blocks. Finger-tighten bolts (5), then bolts (7). Be sure the brackets are even with the edges of the blocks. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 43 7 N m (32 5 lb. ft.). Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 100 14 N m (75 10 lb. ft.).(5) Install the radiator as shown in the Service Manual. Start the engine and check the radiator for leaks.
