(26) Starting aid timer
(27) Number two start relay
(28) Neutral switch relay The relay bank under the instrument panel contains starting aid timer (26), number two start relay (27), and neutral switch relay (28). The instrument panel must be removed in order to access these components.Starting aid timer (26) receives power when engine start switch (13) is in the ON position and/or in the START position. The timer distributes power to the starting aid indicator and to the coil of the starting aid relay for 10 seconds after initial power input is received.Number Two Start Relay
The coil of number two start relay (27) is energized when engine start switch (13) is in the START position. This relay, in conjunction with neutral switch relay (28), controls the circuit to the coil of number one start relay (4). In order for the coil of the number one start relay to be energized, the neutral switch relay and the number two start relay must be simultaneously energized.Neutral Switch Relay
The coil of neutral switch relay (28) is controlled by the neutral switch. When the neutral switch is closed (propulsion lever is in the NEUTRAL position), the coil of the neutral switch relay is energized.Base of Propulsion Lever

(29) Neutral switch On the machines with the four cylinder engine, neutral switch (29) is located at the base of the propulsion lever. The boot on the propulsion lever must be removed in order to access this switch. When the propulsion lever is in the NEUTRAL position, neutral switch (29) is closed. This switch is open when the propulsion lever is in the FORWARD position and open when the propulsion lever is in the REVERSE position. The neutral switch receives power from "A6" fuse (19). The neutral switch controls the coil of neutral switch relay (28). When the neutral switch is closed, the coil of the relay is energized.Propulsion Pump (Machines with Three Cylinder Engine)
Illustration 17 g01248238The neutral switch is located on the propulsion pump on the machines with the three cylinder engine. The direction control valve operates the switch. The propulsion lever controls the direction control valve. When the propulsion lever is in the NEUTRAL position, the neutral switch is closed. This switch is open when the propulsion lever is in the FORWARD position and open when the propulsion lever is in the REVERSE position. The neutral switch receives power from "A6" fuse (19). The neutral switch controls the coil of neutral switch relay (28). When the neutral switch is closed, the coil of the relay is energized.Power Distribution

Note: The CB-334E Vibratory Compactor and CB-335E Vibratory Compactor are wired according to the Caterpillar corporate wiring system. In Caterpillar corporate wiring, each wire has a color and a number. The color and numbers have the following meaning:
RD(Red) (wires are positive)
BK(Black) (wires are negative)
OR(Orange) (wires are in starting circuits)The numbering system is set up as follows:
100 wires (power circuits)
200 wires (ground)
300 wires (machine basic circuits)
400 wires (monitoring circuits)
500 wires (accessory circuits)
600 wires (lighting circuits)
