1. Remove bolts (1), the lock and thrust plate that hold the camshaft in place.2. Carefully pull camshaft (2) out of the cylinder block.3. Remove the bolts that hold the camshaft gear to the camshaft and remove the gear.Install Camshaft
1. Put the camshaft drive gear in position on the end of the shaft. Install the bolts that hold the drive gear in place. The drive gear will fit on the camshaft only one way. 2. Turn the fuel injection pump drive gear until timing pin (A) can be installed in the groove (slot) in the fuel injection pump camshaft as shown. The fuel injection pump now is in correct time.3. Put clean engine oil on the bearing journals of the camshaft. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on the camshaft lobes.4. Install the crankshaft pulley bolt with extra washers in the crankshaft and turn the crankshaft so the "C" mark on the crankshaft will be in alignment with the "C" mark on the camshaft gear when the camshaft is instaled. The number 1 piston is now at top center compression position.
Typical Example5. Carefully install camshaft (1) in the cylinder block with the "C" mark on the camshaft gear in alignment with the "C" mark on the crankshaft gear. It can be necessary to turn the crankshaft a very small amount to install the camshaft. 6. Be sure "C" marks (2) on the crankshaft gear and camshaft gear are in alignment.
