Introduction
Proportional Hydraulic Modulation Valves (PHMV) control the oil flow from the front pump and rear pump to the work tool. The C-T PHMV can be adjusted to control the amount of back pressure to a work tool or implement. The advantages to adjusting the back pressure are improved controllability when a heavy work tool is installed, can reduce cylinder speed for better controllability, and can help avoid a vacuum condition in the cylinder. The following can have the back pressure setting adjusted:
Boom DOWN
Stick IN
Bucket CLOSE/OPEN
Attachment Valve #1 EXTEND
Attachment Valve #1 RETRACT (If work tool is two-way flow)Note: After setting the back pressure, do NOT touch any implement levers for 5 seconds.Machine Preparation
The following procedures must be completed before performing the calibration.
Perform the main control valve calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Main Control Valve - Calibrate" for the machine.
Perform the attachment #1 valve calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Solenoid Valve (Proportional Reducing) - Calibrate (Attachment Valve #1)" for the machine.
Perform the Variable relief valve calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Solenoid Valve (Proportional Reducing) - Calibrate (Variable Relief Valves)" for the tool control system for the machine.
Start the engine.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° 5°C (131° 9°F). Calibration Procedure
