To prevent possible personal injury, make sure all the air pressure in the air system has been released before any lines are disconnected.
1. Drain the oil from the brake makeup oil tank, and release the air pressure from the system.2. Disconnect hoses (1) and (2) from front brake master cylinder and rotochamber (4).3. Disconnect air hose (3) from the top of the front brake master cylinder and rotochamber. Remove two bolts (5), and remove the mounting plate and front brake master cylinder and rotochamber (4).4. Remove the three bolts and mounting plate from front brake master cylinder and rotochamber (4). The following steps are for installation of the front brake master cylinder and rotochamber.5. Install the three bolts and mounting plate on front brake master cylinder and rotochamber (4).6. Put the mounting plate and front brake master cylinder and rotochamber (4) in position. Install two bolts (5).7. Connect hoses (1), (2) and (3) to the front brake master cylinder and rotochamber in their correct positions.8. Fill the makeup tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to the Operation And Maintenance manual for further information.9. Bleed the air from the brake system. See Testing And Adjusting, Form SENR5645, for the proper procedure to bleed the brake system.Disassemble Front Brake Master Cylinder & Rotochamber
Start By:a. remove front brake master cylinder and rotochamber 1. Put the cylinder group in a soft jawed vise, and loosen nut (2) with tool (A).2. Remove the cylinder group from the vise, and remove cylinder (1). 3. Remove and inspect O-ring seal (3). Make a replacement if the seal is broken or damaged. 4. Remove nuts (4) from the studs and the body. 5. Pull body (6) out of rotochamber cylinder (5).
Retaining ring (10) holds spring (8) in compression. A spring in compression can cause flying parts if it is released suddenly. Support body (6) while removing retaining ring (8) and piston (11). Slowly remove body (6) from rod (9) to release the compression of spring (8).
6. Push piston (7) and rod (9) down until power piston (11) is clear of body (6).7. Use tool (B) to remove retaining ring (10). Remove power piston (11) and body (6).8. Inspect all seals on the piston and make a replacement as needed.9. Remove spring (8) and piston (7) off of rod (9). Inspect all seals on piston (7), and make a replacement as needed.Assemble Front Brake Master Cylinder & Rotochamber
Put clean SAE 10W oil on all seals before the cylinder is assembled. 1. Put seals (8) and (9) on piston (1).2. Put the piston into position on rod (3).3. Put spring (2) on the rod with the smaller end toward piston (1).4. Put seal (7) on power piston (6).5. Put body (4) into position on the rod. Push down on the body so spring (2) can be retracted.6. Put the power piston into position on the rod, and install retaining ring (5) with tool (A) to hold the power piston in place. 7. Install the assembled front
