Use Cat ET in order to perform the transmission stall test. Select the "Diagnostics" option from the Cat ET menu. Then, select "Diagnostic Tests" from the drop-down menu. Select the "Transmission Stall" from the selection menu. Follow the instructions that are provided.
Ensure that the parking brake indicator is ON.
Select ground speed of 1.0 on the Compact Instrument Cluster.
Increase the engine speed to HIGH IDLE.
Note the engine speed and record the engine speed onto the worksheets. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Worksheet - Troubleshoot".
Move the steering and transmission control to the FORWARD position. The tracks should not move.
Check the drive pressure of the front pump and the drive pressure of the rear pump. Record the data onto the worksheets.
The drive pressure for the front pump at pressure tap (1) should be 45250 2000 kPa (6563 290 psi).
The drive pressure for the rear pump at pressure tap (2) should be 44650 2000 kPa (6476 290 psi).
Return the steering and transmission control to the HOLD position.
Move the steering and transmission control to the REVERSE position.Note: Do not stall the drive system for more than 15 seconds.
Check the drive pressure of the front pump and the drive pressure of the rear pump. Record the data onto the worksheets.
The drive pressure for the front pump at pressure tap (3) should be 45250 2000 kPa (6563 290 psi).
The drive pressure for the rear pump at pressure tap (4) should be 44650 2000 kPa (6476 290 psi).
Return the steering and transmission control to the HOLD position.
Ensure that the parking brake indicator is ON.
Decrease the engine speed to LOW IDLE.
Stop the engine.
Position the ignition switch to the ON.
Move all of the controls in order to relieve any pressure within the hydraulic systems.
Determine if the drive pressure is not within the correct specifications in both travel directions. If, the pressure is not within specifications perform the following tests:
If the drive pressure is not correct in both travel directions, the electronic pressure override valve needs calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR5148, "Crossover Relief Valve - Adjust".
Recalibrate the electronic pressure override valve. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, KENR5148, "Transmission Drive Pump Pressure Override Calibration".
Repeat the Testing and Adjusting, KENR5148, "Transmission Stall - Test".
