Hydraulic Universal Quick Coupler with Single Action Cylinder or with Double Action Cylinder (If Equipped)
Inspect the coupler wedge engagement before you operate the excavator.Serious injury or death may result from an improperly engaged coupler.Inspect coupler wedge engagement from the cab by rotating the bucket or the work tool inward. Extend the bucket cylinder to bring the coupler actuator into view and bring the stick in until the wedges are visible.
Note: Before you use the switch to secure the quick coupler, make sure that the quick coupler has either a single action cylinder or a double action cylinder. Verify that the selector valve is adjusted correctly for a single action cylinder or for a double action cylinder.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance, "Quick Coupler Operation", to operate the quick coupler.

(A) Switch for the Quick CouplerThe switch for the hydraulic quick coupler is located rearward of the left console.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the work tool hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch.
Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.Refer to the procedure below before any of the following conditions.
The work tool is changed.
The position of the ball valve is changed.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Place the hydraulic lockout control to ON position.
Release the pressure in the auxiliary lines by pressing the auxiliary control buttons or the auxiliary control pedal three times.
Place the hydraulic lockout control in the OFF position.
Change the work tool.Note: There should be movement in the auxiliary hydraulic lines as the pressure is released. If there is no movement in the auxiliary hydraulic lines, start the engine and run the engine for 20 seconds. Repeat steps 1 to 5.
