Problem
No Lubricant At BearingProbable Cause
Broken lubrication line or restricted lubrication line
There is an air lock in the lubrication line.
An empty lubricant tank
A lubrication injector is malfunctioning.
The lubricant pump is malfunctioning.
The bearing clearances are too small and the bearing will not accept the lubricant.Problem
A pile of grease is near the pump group.Probable Cause
There is excessive pilot pressure to the pump.
There is a restricted lube line.Problem
The lubrication pump does not run.Probable Cause
The electrical system has failed.
There is no pilot pressure to the lubricant pump.
The lubricant pump has failed.
The Machine Control Module has failed.Fault Codes for the Caterpillar Monitoring System
Display
A fault causes a flashing action lamp. The autolube indicator will be illuminated. The autolube indicator is located on the LCD screen.Cause
This event is triggered when the autolube pressure falls below 15847 kPa (2300 psi) during a lubrication cycle. This could indicate an empty drum, no air pressure or a nonfunctional pump.Display
A fault causes a flashing action lamp. The autolube indicator will be illuminated. The autolube indicator is located on the LCD screen.Cause
This event is triggered when the autolube pressure rises above 27560 kPa (4000 psi) during a lubrication cycle.Note: When the autolube pressure reaches 29525 kPa (4285 psi), the Machine Control Module will de-energize the autolube solenoid valve and the Machine Control Module terminates the lubrication cycle.Display
A fault causes a flashing autolube indicator on the Caterpillar Monitoring System's LCD display.Cause
On machines with the mass excavator arrangement, a fault is triggered when the autolube system has been left in the manual lubrication configuration. The manual lubrication system overrides the automatic lubrication system. When the lubrication system has been configured for manual lubrication, the automatic lubrication system will not function.Note: For further information on the Caterpillar Monitoring System operation and fault codes, refer to Service Manual, SENR6717, "Caterpillar Monitoring System".
