Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Remove the axle oil cooler (if equipped). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Oil Cooler - Remove and Install".
Remove the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard - Remove and Install".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to keep the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

Remove bolts (2) and straps (3) from rear drive shaft (1) .
Remove rear drive shaft (1) .Installation Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Position rear drive shaft (1) and install straps (3) and bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 71 10 N m (52 7 lb ft).End By:
Install the axle oil cooler (if equipped). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Oil Cooler - Remove and Install".
Install the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard - Remove and Install".
Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
