Schematic of the "Machine Working Function" circuit connections.The "Machine Working Function" enables the Machine ECM to signal the Engine ECM to increase or decrease engine power to operate the machine.The Machine ECM enables the Engine ECM to activate the "Low Battery Elevated Engine Idle" function. This function is active when engine power is not required for other systems on the machine. This function enables the Engine ECM to adjust the engine idle speed in order to provide more charging capacity for low batteries. The Machine Working information from the Machine ECM is also used by the Engine ECM to activate the Automatic Engine Speed Control (AESC) function.The Machine ECM determines that power demand is low when both of the following are true: This situation indicates that no machine swing is requested and low demand is present from the main pump. This information is sent to the Engine ECM over the Cat Data Link.
The Main Pump Pilot Pressure switch contacts are open.
The Swing Pump Pilot Pressure switch contacts are open.If the contacts close on either switches, the Machine ECM will indicate an increased machine power demand to the Engine ECM. This situation is indicated by an increase in hydraulic pressure on either of the switches.
