Reports have been received of the potential for dust to enter the cab air intake opening. Air bypasses the filter above the filter box behind the access door causing dust, dirt, and insects to enter the fresh air intake. The particles can accumulate on the air conditioner evaporator coil restricting the air flow causing overheating.Solution
Inspect the air intake opening for any gaps that allow air to bypass the filter. On cabs that are not sealed, apply a bead of silicone sealant along the plate joint behind the cab left side air filter door above the air filter cut out. Completely seal off the plate joint. Cut a piece of 5P-7070 Strip Insulation to length and place above the filter group. Install an 8T-5372 Seal around the perimeter of the fresh air filter sealing surface. The new insulation will prevent the dirt from bypassing the fresh air filter. This will ensure that all of the outside air is drawn in across the air filter.
