Bogie housing (2) uses a set of gears (5) to transfer power to two final drives from axle shaft (3). The bogie is mounted onto the differential housing with a bearing in order to allow movement of bogie housing (2) .Each final drive has the same components. A final drive provides the last speed reduction and the torque increase in the power train.Axle shaft (3) is connected to gears (5). The set of gears (5) are connected to driven gear (11). Driven gear (11) is connected to drive shaft (13) by splines.Ring gear (9) is fastened to hub (8). Hub (8) is connected to spindle housing (6) by splines. Spindle housing (6) is fastened to the axle housing. Ring gear (9), spindle housing (6), and hub (8) are held stationary.Drive shaft (13) is connected to driven gear (11) by splines. Sun gear (12) is connected to drive shaft (13) by splines. Sun gear (12) is engaged with planetary gears (10). Planetary gears (10) are held in planetary carrier (14). Planetary carrier (14) is fastened to final drive housing (7) .Power from the differential turns axle shaft (3). Axle shaft (3) turns gear (5). The set of gears (5) turn driven gear (11) .Drive shaft (13) is turned by driven gear (11). Drive shaft (13) turns sun gear (12). Sun gear (12) turns planetary gear (10). Because ring gear (9) is held by hub (8), the planetary gears move around the inside of ring gear (9). The movement of the planetary gears cause planetary carrier (14) to turn. The planetary carrier is turned in the same direction as sun gear (12) but at a slower speed. The planetary carrier turns final drive housing (7) .Each final drive has an oil reservoir. Oil is added to the final drive through a filler plug on the outside cover. Oil is removed from the final drive through a drain plug.The components of the bogie are lubricated from the oil that is inside of the bogie. Similarly, the components of the final drives are lubricated from the oil that is inside of the final drives. Each bogie has an oil reservoir. Oil is added through the filler plug.
