KIT-SEAL 3843999 - Caterpillar

Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
The muffler, catalytic converter/muffler, and diesel particulate filter will become extremely hot during engine operation. A hot muffler, catalytic converter/muffler and diesel particulate filter can cause serious burns. Allow adequate cooling time before working on or near the muffler, catalytic converter/muffler and diesel particulate filter.
Do not strike any part of the assembly of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Do not allow any object to contact the internal element of the DPF. If the internal element of the DPF becomes damaged, the assembly must be replaced.
Installation Procedure

If necessary, install temperature sensor (17) and temperature sensor (16) in catalyst assembly (9).

If necessary, install temperature sensor (15) in filter assembly (11).
Illustration 3 g06065448Note: Use the alignment marks on body assembly (10) and catalyst assembly (9) for assembly purposes.
Install the gasket between catalyst assembly (9) and body assembly (10). Carefully install catalyst assembly (9) to body assembly (10). Install bracket (14).

Install the gasket between filter assembly (11) and body assembly (10). Carefully install filter assembly (11) to body assembly (10). Install bracket (12). Connect hoses (13).

Install the gasket for flange (5). Install diesel particulate filter (6). Install two bolts (8) and two bolts (7). Connect flange (5) and install the bolts.

Install cover (1), the washers, and the bolts. Close engine compartment door (3) and left side compartment door (2).
