2. Remove bolts (1), the washers and grille assembly (2) from the fan housing. 3. Open fan housing (3). Remove bolts (5), the washers and grille assembly (4) from fan housing (5). 4. Remove bolts (6) from fan blade assembly (7), then remove the fan blade assembly from the fan motor. 5. Disconnect hydraulic lines (8) from fan motor (9). 6. Remove bolts (10), the nuts, the washers and fan motor (9) from mounting bracket (11). Install the hydraulic cooling fan & motor in the reverse order of the removal. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for all fluid capacities and the proper filling procedures.7. Check the fluid level in the hydraulic tank.Disassemble & assemble Hydraulic Fan Motor (928G & IT28G)
Start By:a. remove hydraulic fan motorCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates. Put identification on all fittings, valves or plugs for assembly purposes. Thoroughly clean all components before assembly. Drain all fluids in a suitable container for storage or disposal. Check the condition of all O-ring seals that are in any lines, hoses or tubes or components disconnected during this procedure. If any of the seals are damaged, use new parts for replacement. 1. Clean the hydraulic fan motor before disassembly.2. Remove nut (1) and nut lock (2) that hold hub (3) to the hydraulic fan motor. 3. Use Tooling (A) to remove hub (3) and the key from the hydraulic fan motor. 4. Remove bolts (5) and the washers that hold block (6) to housing (4). Move the block (6) away from the housing (4). 5. Remove O-ring seal (7). 6. Remove two blocks (8), seal back up (10) and four seals (9) from housing (4). Seal back up (10) was painted black for photographic purposes. 7. Remove gear (11) from housing (4). 8. Remove gear (12) from housing (4). 9. Remove two blocks (13), seal back up (15) and four seals (14) from housing (4). Seal back up (15) was painted black for photographic purposes. 10. Remove snap ring (16) and lip seal (17) from housing (4). 11. Remove cover (18) from housing (4). 12. Remove O-ring seal (19) from housing (4). 13. Remove fitting (20) and O-ring seal (21) from block (6).14. Remove plug (22), O-ring seal (23), spring (24) and valve (25) from block (6). For assembly of the hydraulic fan motor, reverse the order of the disassembly.15. Nut (1) must be tightened to a torque of 85 5 N m (63 4 lb ft)End By:a. install hydraulic fan motor
