Fan Drive Belts
This machine is equipped with a V-belt set that drives the radiator fan.

Inspect the fan drive belts through the areas that are not obstructed by the belt guard. Do not remove the belt guard for inspection. Shown with belt guard removed for reference.
Inspect V-belts (1) for the following conditions: cracks, wear, stretch, frayed areas, and missing pieces.Refrigerant Compressor and Alternator Belt
This machine is equipped with a serpentine belt that drives the alternator and the refrigerant compressor.

Remove the guard for the refrigerant compressor/ alternator belt for inspection.
Inspect serpentine belt (2) for the following conditions: cracks, wear, stretch, frayed areas, and missing pieces.

(A) New belt
(B) Worn belt
Inspect the condition of the serpentine belt. Over time the belt ribs will lose material (C). The space between the ribs will increase (D). The loss of material will cause the pulley sheave to contact the belt valley. This will lead to belt slippage and accelerated wear (E). Replace the belt if the belt is worn or frayed.
Install the guard for the refrigerant compressor/ alternator belt.Replacement
