Starter relay configuration case 2
An alternate method of breaking the coil circuit is to break the ground side at the relay coil - refer to Illustration 15. Break the circuit - either at the relay coil or at the ground connection. Connect pin 6 and 7 across the break in the circuit. To validate the connection, refer to Section "Operational Validation".Operational Validation
Asset Security Administration
Before beginning the operational validation of this device, it is important that the user be familiar with the Asset Security Administrator Guide on https://dealer.cat.com/pl.Upon installation of the supporting Product Link device and Remote Disable Module, the Product Link device must be configured to security level 1 using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) or VisionLink. This allows the device to accept direct security commands from the back office. A user with the asset security privilege must update the asset from "Not Configured" to "Normal Operation". Once the device acknowledges this setting, it can receive the command to "Disable". Background logic inhibits the user from driving a state change to the current state (Normal Operation cannot be updated to Normal Operation).Operational Validation for a Machine with a PL241 Radio
Note: 491-7565 Control Harness As is required for the Product Link 241 Radio to function correctly with RDM.Remote Disable with Machine On
The purpose of this test is to ensure that the engine will start after the Remote Disable Module has been installed and to validate that the Remote Disable Module will prevent the engine from starting when a "disable engine start" command is sent from VisionLink.
Remove the "Do Not Operate" warning tag and lock from ignition.
Turn the Key Switch to the on position and turn on the engine. If the engine does not start:
Verify on VisionLink that the RDM is set to enable engine start.
Ensure that the RDM is installed properly.
Cycle power a few times at 30 seconds intervals.

Once the engine is running, use VisionLink to send a disable start command to the RDM. The engine should remain running.
After 5 minutes, turn OFF the engine with the Key Switch to the off position.
Allow the PL241 to shutdown by leaving the Key Switch OFF for 5 minutes, or by cycling the main power after 10 seconds.
The PL241 needs to fully power off before it is able to change the state.
Start the engine by moving the Key Switch to the on position.
The engine will start even though a "disable engine start" command was sent from VisionLink because the PL241 changes state at the next key on, at which time, the RDM is getting first occurrence of the disable start command.
After 30 seconds, turn off the engine with the Key Switch to the off position.
After 30 seconds, attempt to restart the engine with the Key Switch to the on position. The engine should not start. If the engine starts:
Ensure that you are operating in good cellular coverage. There are status screens available in Cat ET to perform the task.
Ensure that the PL241 received the "disable start" command by verifying that pin-12
