Dear Cat Product Owner:
The starter motor wiring needs to be reworked on certain 3508B, 3508C, 3512B, 3512C, 3516B, 3516B HD, and 3516C Marine Engines. The existing wiring engages only one of two engine starters. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 17Jun2013 when scheduling this service.

Ensure that all safety information, warnings, and instructions are read and understood before this service procedure is performed.
Terminal 4 on the SMMS2 and PPR1 is located behind, opposite of terminal 3 that is shown in Image 1.1.1.
Remove wire G229-P17 BK-18 that runs from ECM P-C1 pin _A to SMMS2 terminal 4. Refer to Image1.2.1.
Add wire D229-P60 BK-18 from PPR1 terminal 4 to SMMS2 terminal 4. Refer to Image1.3.1.
Note: Use 6V-2690 Heat Shrink after crimping the new terminals to prevent accidental shorting.
