Use Tooling (A) to install bearings (12) in housing (3). Install the bearing joints at a 5 degree angle from the horizontal centerline of housing (3). Use Tooling (G) to install bearings (13) in housing (3). Install the bearing joints at a 15 degree angle from the vertical centerline of housing (3). Refer to Specifications, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Sea Water".
Place shaft (17) into housing (3).
Install thrust washer (18) and bolts (19).
Lubricate the bore of seal (11) with glycerin or equivalent. Place seal (11) into housing (3).
Install O-ring seal (10).
Connect housing (3) and housing (2). Align the marks and the bolt holes of the housings.
Lubricate seal group (9) with clean water. Place seal group (9) into housing (2). Ensure that the identification mark is oriented away from the seal group that is mounted on the shaft.
Use Tooling (D) in order to push seal group (9) on shaft (17) until the seal face makes light contact.
Install the spring on seal group (9). Note: If impeller (8) has been balanced in the field, impeller (8) cannot be used.
Place impeller (8) on shaft (17).
Use the following procedure for pumps that use the 388-7069 Bolt or newer and 378-8520 Spacer or newer.
Apply Tooling (F) to the threads of bolt (14).
Apply Tooling (F) to both sides of washer (15).
Install washer (15) and bolt (14). Tighten bolt (14) to a torque of 200 N m (150 lb ft) in order to seat impeller (8) on shaft (17).
Loosen bolt (14) until washer (15) is loose.
Tighten bolt (14) to a torque of 50 N m (37 lb ft). Turn bolt (14) for an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn).
Use the following procedure for all other auxiliary water pumps.
Apply Tooling (F) to the threads of bolt (14).
Apply Tooling (F) to both sides of washer (15).
Install washer (15) and bolt (14). Tighten bolt (14) to a torque of 370 50 N m (275 37 lb ft).
Install O-ring seal (16).
Position housings (2) and (3) on housing (1). Align the marks and the bolt holes of the housings.
Install bolts (4).
Install O-ring seal (5). Install gear (6) and bolts (7).
Ensure that the auxiliary water pump shaft rotates freely when the shaft is turned by hand. End By:
Install the auxiliary water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Install".
