Removal Procedure
The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.
Install the truck body retaining cables. Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cable (Truck Body Retaining)".
Turn the power disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Personal injury or death can result from a fire.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Drain the fuel tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".

Remove cover (1) .

Disconnect harness assembly (2). Remove the connector from harness assembly (2) in order to remove harness assembly (2) through the guard of the fuel tank.

Disconnect harness assembly (3). Disconnect clips (4), (5), and (7). Reposition harness assembly (2). Disconnect hose assemblies (6) .

Disconnect hose (9) from fuel tank (8) .
Attach a suitable lifting device to fuel tank (8). The weight of an empty fuel tank (8) is approximately 1770 kg (3900 lb). Remove caps (10) and shims (11) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to plate assembly (15). The weight of plate assembly (15) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb). Remove bolts (13), mount assemblies (14), and plate assembly (15) .Installation Procedure
Install fuel tank (8) in the reverse order.

Measure Dimension (X) on the fuel tank.
Install cap (10). Measure Dimension (Y) on the frame.
Subtract Dimension (X) from Dimension (Y) in order to obtain the thickness of shims. Use shims to obtain a gap of 0.00 - 0.12 mm (0.000 - 0.005 inch) between Dimension (X) and Dimension (Y) .
Fill the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Fill - Fast Fill Fuel Adapter".
