Personal injury or deat can result from machine movement. When tests and adjustments are made to the transmission or the torque converter, the parking brake must be disengaged. To prevent movement of the machine and personal injury perform the procedure that follows.
1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location.2. Retract the counterweight and lower the boom to the ground.3. Put blocks in front of the tracks and behind the tracks.4. Allow only approved personnel on the machine. Keep all other personnel off the machine and in clear view of the operator.5. When testing must be done in a closed area, activate the service brakes when the parking brake cannot be used. When possible, activate the service brakes while performing tests. All tests and adjustments must be made with the power train system oil at normal operating temperature. This test should be performed if the machine functions normally when in gear but stops suddenly when shifted to neutral in conditions where the machine would normally coast to a stop. With the transmission in neutral and the parking brake disengaged, check the left hand and right hand brake pressures at steering and brake control valve (11). Use pressure tap (G) for the left hand brake and pressure tap (H) for the right hand brake.
