Illustration 1 g00895520This diagnostic code is associated with the ride control switch. The FMI 02 means that the ECM has determined that one of the two signal wires for the ride control switch is grounded intermittently.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The wiring harness has failed.
The switch has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected.Test Step 1. DISCONNECT THE SWITCH.Disconnect the switch (ride control) from the machine harness connector. This turns OFF the ride control. Operate the machine.Expected Result:The diagnostic code does not stay active.Results:
YES - The diagnostic code does not stay active. Repair: The switch has failed or there is a poor electrical connection at the switch. Inspect the harness connector and repair the connections if it is necessary. If the harness connector is good, replace the switch.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code returns when the machine is operated. The wiring harness has failed.Repair: Repair the wiring harness or replace the wiring harness. If the wiring harness is replaced and the diagnostic code remains, the ECM may have failed. This is unlikely.
