Disconnect the electrical connectors (A) for the fuel sender. Disconnect the two fuel hoses (B) on the counterweight.

Counterweight Assembly (C) Stacked weights
Attach a suitable lifting device to the lifting brackets for the counterweight assembly. The approximate weight of the counterweight is 8620 kg (19,000 lb) without fuel. The total weight of the counterweight can be decreased by draining the fuel tank and removing the stacked weights (C) .
Remove the four bolts that secure the counterweight to the frame. Lift the counterweight from the frame of the machine.

Upper Frame Assembly (D) Brackets For Mounting The Counterweight
Use a suitable cutting device and remove the mounting brackets (D) for the counterweight from the upper frame assembly.Welding The Reinforcements
Use the information in the illustrations and weld the plates that are listed in Table 1 to the upper frame assembly.
Prepare the areas on the upper frame assembly for the welding of the new brackets for mounting the counterweight.
Weld the plate (1) to the upper frame assembly.
Weld the plates for the brackets that mount the counterweight to the upper frame assembly.
Weld plates (5) to the upper frame assembly.
