Start by removing the steering column covers. Remove two screws (1) from both sides of the steering wheel. In order to gain access to the screws, rotate the steering wheel.

Remove four button head screws (2) in order to remove all four components of the steering column cover.Note: The top covers are secured by Velcro strips. Remove the covers away from the steering column by pulling gently upward.

Disconnect wiring harness (3) by pushing on both sides of the connector. Pull connector harness (3) away from the steering column. This will expose the set screw on the side of the steering column adjustment lever.

Note: Do not make any adjustments to screw (4) located on top of the 162-8541 Adjustable Steering Column.

Remove set screw (5) on the side of 162-8541 Adjustable Steering Column. Clean the set screw of any debris. Apply thread lock compound to the set screw in order to retain the set screw during vibration of the machine. Slowly replace the set screw until contact is made with the column. When set screw (5) makes contact with the steering column turn the screw clockwise at 135 degrees. Test the telescopic feature. Test the tilt feature. Turn the set screw clockwise at an additional 15 degrees if the steering column does not retain the desired position. Do not exceed 150 degrees from the point of contact. Test the telescopic feature and the tilt feature again.Note: Do not tighten set screw (5) completely. The steering column adjustment lever will become inoperable if the set screw is overtightened.
Replace the steering column covers in the reverse order of Steps 1 and 2.
