Information:


Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. Refer to Air Conditioning and Heating, Testing and Adjusting, "Refrigerant Recovery" for the correct procedure.
Evacuate the air conditioning system. Refer to Air Conditioning and Heating, Testing and Adjusting, "Refrigerant System - Evacuate" for the correct procedure.

Disconnect hose assembly (1) from the evaporator coil.
Disconnect hose assembly (2) from the evaporator coil.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At the operating temperature, the engine jacket water system is hot and under pressure. Hot engine coolant and steam can cause burns.Remove the breather cap when the engine is stopped and the breather cap is cool enough to touch. Slowly loosen the breather cap in order to release any pressure in the tank. Be cautious of hot engine coolant when any hose assemblies are disconnected in the engine coolant system.
Close the water valves that are on the engine.

Remove screw (3) and the clamp in order to disconnect cable assembly (4) from the heater control valve.
Loosen the hose clamp in order to disconnect hose (5) from the heater control valve.
Loosen the hose clamp in order to disconnect hose (6) from the heater control valve.

Disconnect wire harness (7) at the electrical connection.

Loosen two hose clamps (8) and (9).
Cut tie strap (11).
Disconnect duct (9) from the air conditioner assembly.

Disconnect hose (12) from the air conditioner assembly.

This is a view of the right side of the air conditioner assembly.

Attach a suitable lifting device and a hoist to the air conditioner assembly.
Remove two bolts (13) and the hard washers.
Remove three bolts (15) and the hard washers.
Remove nut (14).

Disconnect hose (16) from air conditioner assembly (17).
Use the hoist to remove air conditioner assembly (17) from the front cab compartment. The weight of air conditioner assembly (17) is 34 kg (75 lb).
