(1) Available SubstituteNote: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the installation procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.
Check all the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Lubricate all the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Use a suitable lifting sling and a hoist to support steering arm (9). The weight of steering arm (9) is approximately 103 kg (227 lb).
Position steering arm (9) on front spindle (11). Install bolts (10) to secure steering arm. Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 1800 200 N m (1300 150 lb ft).

Use Tooling (D) to support the weight of steering cylinder (4). The steering cylinder weighs approximately 111 kg (245 lb).
Apply Tooling (F) to the threads of the ball stud and on the taper of the ball stud.
Install steering cylinder (4) in steering arm (9).
Apply Tooling (F) to the face of locknut (8). Install the locknut loosely on the ball stud for the steering cylinder.

Position Tooling (D) to support the weight of the steering link (3). The weight of the steering link is approximately 115 kg (253 lb).
Repeat Step 6 for the ball stud on the steering link.
Install steering link (3) in steering arm (9).
Repeat Step 4 for the ball stud on the steering link.

Install Tooling (A) to hold the ball stud (7) while the locknut (8) is being tightened.

Use Tooling (B) to tighten locknut (8) on the steering cylinder. Tighten locknut (8) to a torque of 2060 100 N m (1519 74 lb ft).
Repeat Steps 13 and 14 to tighten the ball stud on the steering link.

Install plug (5). Use Tooling (E) to install retaining ring (6) onto the ball stud for the steering cylinder . Install retaining ring (6).
Repeat Step 3 for the ball stud on the steering link.

Connect hose assembly (2) to the rod end of steering cylinder (4).
Connect hose assembly (1) to steering link (3).
Check the alignment of the front wheels. Refer to Steering Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, SENR1492, "Front Wheel - Align" for the correct procedure.
