1. Block the rear wheels. Turn the start switch off and disconnect the batteries. 2. Use the lever extension from the machine tool kit to fully lower the front suspension. Hold the lever in the "lower" position until the hissing noise stops, indicating that the accumulator has completely drained.On two axle machines with rear suspension, lower the rear suspension in the same way.It is not necessary to lower the rear suspension on three axle machines. 3. Use a hoist to raise the tractor until the wheels just start to clear the ground. The tractor unit weighs approximately 11000 kg (24200lb). Install suitable stands and remove the wheels. 4. Remove the crankcase guard. 5. Remove the axle drain and level plugs (1 and 2) and drain oil into a suitable container. Clean and install the plugs. 6. Disconnect the two brake air lines (3) and the breather hose (4). 7. Disconnect the grease lines (5 and 6) and linkage (7). 8. Remove the drive shaft. 9. Position a transmission jack under the suspension frame and raise it slightly. Put blocks under the back of the suspension frame to prevent it from tilting when the suspension cylinders and frame pivot pins are removed. Leave the axle stands in place. 10. Remove the bolts (8) and withdraw the pins (9). 11. Remove the pivot bearing caps (10) with shims (11). Note the number of shims in each side for initial adjustment on reassembly. 12. Remove the clamps (12). 13. Carefully lower and move the jack forward until the suspension frame is clear of the tractor frame. Differential and Final Drive bearing adjustment is described in Service Manual Module HENR 8167, "Specifications for Articulated Dump Truck Power Train", which is in the POWER TRAIN section of the Service Manual. Installation of the axle and suspension frame is the reverse of the removal procedure.
