Remove the steering column.

Place steering column (1) in a suitable soft jawed vise, as shown. Use a screwdriver in order to pry horn button (2) from steering wheel (3).

Disconnect wire (4) from horn button (2). Remove spring (5) from the center of the steering wheel.

Remove plate (6) from the center of steering wheel (3).

Remove nut (7) that secures steering wheel (3) to steering column (1).

Install Tooling (A) into the two threaded holes in steering wheel (3). Use the Tooling in order to remove the steering wheel from the steering column completely.

Release the tension on cable (8) by pulling back the arm on gas strut (9) in order to disconnect cable clamp assembly (10). See the white arrow in Illustration 6.
Remove the end of cable (8) from the holder on gas strut (9). See the black arrow in Illustration 6. Note the position of the cable for the assembly purposes.

Remove four socket head screws (11) in order to remove tilt lever kit (12) from steering column (1).

Reposition steering column (1) in the soft jawed vise, as shown. Remove nut (13), the bolt, nut (14) and the bolt in order to remove gas strut (9) from the steering column.

Remove nut (15) and the bolt in order to remove joint assembly (16) from steering column (1).

Remove nut (17), the bolt, nut (18), and the bolt in order to separate joint assembly (16), shaft (19) and joint assembly (20) from each other.
Remove the steering column from the soft jawed vise.
