Certain Track-Type Tractors may experience a problem when the machine is started in temperatures that are near the freezing point or below the freezing point. The engines in the machines that are listed above may fail to crank in cold temperatures and the ECM will fail to communicate with the machine. Warming the ECM will restore normal operation of the machine. This problem may occur with the 228-0382 Electronic Control Module or the 262-1408 Electronic Control Module .If a machine experiences both symptoms, warm the ECM. If the problem is corrected by warming the ECM, the ECM should be replaced. If warming the ECM does not correct the problem, the ECM should not be replaced without further troubleshooting. Use normal troubleshooting procedures in order to determine the cause of the problem.
