Identification #(s)Attached to July 17, 2005 Service LetterRework ProcedureThis rework requires removal of the Drive ShaftCarrier Bearing to gain access to the 1361748/">136-1748 Front Shaft. Follow themachine?s Disassembly and Assembly Manual in order to prepare the machinefor this rework.Mark the position of the u-joints and yokesto each other before removal. The u-joints and yokes must be reinstalledin phase to prevent vibration. Strap the front drive shaft yoke to thefront axle to hold the yoke in place to prevent any loss of oil.After replacing the 1361748/">136-1748 Front Shaft, usenew 8T-0281 Bolts to reinstall the u-joints to the drive shaft yokes. Tightenthe bolts to 300 +/- 30 Nm (243 +/- 22 lbs ft) to close any gaps in theassembly. Tighten the same bolts again, to the same torque of 300 +/- 30Nm (243 +/- 22 lbs ft). This will insure that the bolts are tightened tospecification.
