Information:

Dumping the Load
Engine Operable
If the engine is operable, use the hoist control to dump the load.Engine Inoperable
Use the Caterpillar 1U5000 auxiliary power unit with attachment group 1U5525, or another truck to supply hydraulic force. See "Form SEHS8715," for procedures to use the 1U5000 power unit and 1U5525 attachment group.1. Park the running truck alongside the disabled truck. Engage the parking brake. 2. Move the hoist control lever to HOLD. 3. Connect one end of the hose to the down port (1) of the running truck and the other end to the raise port (2) of the disabled truck.4. Connect one end of the second hose to the raise port of the running truck and the other end to the down port of the disabled truck.5. Move the hoist control lever of the disabled truck to HOLD.6. Move the hoist control lever of the running truck to DOWN.7. Run the engine at part throttle while raising the disabled truck bed.
To prevent personal injury or death, do not work under the truck with the body (bed) raised. When it is necessary to work under the truck with the body (bed) raised, install the body (bed) retaining cable end through the rear tow pin at the rear of the machine.
Use a signal man to warn people of dumping load and to stop raising the bed, if the front wheels on the disabled truck start to raise. This can happen if dumping on a slope.
Do not move the hoist control to the LOWER position when the body retaining cable is installed between the dump body and the rear tow pin. When the hoist control is in the LOWER position, hydraulic force may cause the body retaining cable to fail with the potential for injury or death.
To Lower the Body (Bed)
1. Keep the hoist control lever of the disabled truck in HOLD. Move the hoist control lever of the running truck to FLOAT.2. The truck bed of the disabled truck should lower and return oil to the running truck hydraulic tank.3. Disconnect both hoses from the trucks. Check the hydraulic tank oil level of the running truck. 4. Maintain the oil level to the FULL WARM mark in the hydraulic tank sight gauge (1). Remove oil fill cap (2) and add oil if necessary.Towing
