Guidance is given to the operator in the following two ways:
The Display
The Light barsDisplay
The AccuGrade Display is a computer that runs the AccuGrade software. The Display has a color LCD screen in order to display guidance and other information, and push button controls in order to operate the AccuGrade System. In addition, the display has a slot for the data card for loading and saving the machine and the display configuration data, and for loading and saving designs.

The AccuGrade System uses three light bars.There are seven sets of LED indicators on each light bar. Refer to Illustration 2.

Each light bar will show different information for the position of the bucket:
A vertical light bar (top) provides corrections for the cut and the fill (13). This light bar displays information for the lowest bucket tip relative to the design.
A horizontal light bar (center) indicates left and right corrections to the horizontal guidance line for the bucket tip that has focus (14) .
A vertical light bar (bottom) indicates in and out corrections to the horizontal guidance line from the bucket tip that has focus (15) .

Pitch Sensor
The AccuGrade System uses a single axis angle sensor in order to measure the pitch of the machine.

The AccuGrade System uses three single axis angle sensors that are located on the boom, the stick and the bucket linkage in order to calculate the position of the cutting edge of the bucket.

Angle SensorsLocation Sensors
Location sensors are able to determine the position in three dimensional space. The AccuGrade System uses two global positioning system (GPS) receivers.GPS Receivers
GPS receivers are able to calculate the location with information that is broadcast from satellites that are orbiting the earth. GPS receivers must be configured into the system before the information can be used for guidance.The GPS receivers are mounted on the body of the machine.

Data Radio

Data RadioA data radio is used to receive data from a GPS base station. The GPS position sensors require the data radio to be working correctly in the system. The GPS data radio can also be used to send and receive files and other types of data from the office.GPS Base Station
The AccuGrade System is an RTK rover configuration. The system requires a GPS base station somewhere near the project.A GPS base station consists of the following components.
