(2) Retention spring
Disconnect the gas springs (1) from the hood. Open the hood and remove the retention spring (2) from the hood side of the gas spring. Be careful not to lose the clip. Pull the strut off the ball joint. Rest the strut out of the way. Disconnect the gas springs from both side of the hood.

Close the hood. Remove the hinge bolts (3) from both sides of the vehicle. Unlatch the hood. Remove the hood. Cab doors can be removed if this helps with the removal. Adjustment or Assembly of New Hood

(4) Hood
Place the new hood (4) onto the machine. Make sure that the new hood is centered around the grill and around the muffler.

The gap between the hood and the horizontal face of the counterweight should be 20 mm (0.79 inch) on all sides. Use spacers to set this gap.

Use a spacer to create a 50 mm (1.97 inch) gap between the hood and the frame. Repeat for the other side of the machine.

Corners
Reassemble the gas springs to both sides of the hood. The corner that is shown in figure 9 may be pulled in toward the center of the machine. This may cause fouling on the frame or the counterweight as the hood closes. The corner may need to be pulled out further while the hinge bolts are being tightened. This action will slightly twist the hinge. The corner of the hood will be pushed away from the frame. Make sure that the gap between the hood and the horizontal face of the counterweight is still approximately 20 mm (0.79 inch). The hinges may need to be adjusted to a slightly higher position. Repeat for the other side of the machine.

Inside edge
The hinges may not be level at the top of the firewall. In order to maintain the height and alignment of the hood, the inside edge should be level.Adjust the latch

(5) Striker

When the new hood is in place, the latch on the hood may not align with the mating half of the counterweight. Adjustment can be done at the striker (5) on the counterweight.Adjusting the Corner Caps

(6) Mounting plate
In order to align with the hood, the position of the corner caps can be adjusted. The mounting plate (6) for the frame of the corner cap can be repositioned. Loosen the mounting bolts and position the mounting plate. Repeat for the other side of the machine.Adjustment of the Side Doors

(7) Latch plate
In order to align with the hood and corner caps, the side doors can be adjusted. The latch plate (7) for the locking barrel may also need to be adjusted. Repeat for the other side of the machine.
