Rework Procedure
This procedure is for re-purposing an existing circuit to allow for the functionality of the neutral switch on engines that need that optional function when connected to a transmission. Refer to Image 1.3.1 for reference.
Step 1: Remove the X995 circuit installed in Pin 19 on the J2 120 Pin Connector at the ECM, see schematic KENR5897. The 151-6320 red pin extraction tool is recommended to aid in the removal of this wire shown in Image 1.1.2. See Image 1.1.1 for pin numbering for the J2 120 Pin Connector. Note: Connector numbers are oriented to the same orientation as the ECM in the image.

Step 2: Cut the pin off of the end of the X995 circuit and apply 4C-6387 heat shrink to the end of the X995 circuit to terminate this connection.
Step 3: Remove E722 circuit installed in Pin 60 on the J1 70 Pin Connector at the ECM. The 151-6320 red pin extraction tool is recommended to aid in the removal of this wire shown in Image 1.1.2.
Step 4: Install the 1 foot length of pink 16 gauge wire to the E722 wire with 4C-6395 heat shrink to allow E722 circuit to connect to the J2 120 Pin Connector.
Step 5: Heat shrink the ends of the 4C-6395 connector to seal it and mark the circuit with E722.
Step 6: Install the 9X-3402 pin on the end of the E722 wire.
Step 6: Install the 31 cm of the 122-4550 sleeve onto the new 1 foot section of wire.
Step 7: Install the E722 in Pin 19 on the J2 120 Pin Connector at the ECM.
Step 8: Remove the E722 circuit from the 70 Pin Customer Connector (on engine male plug) and relocate to Pin 41.
Step 9: The transmissions neutral detection circuit must be connected to Pin 41 and Pin 42 on the 70 Pin Customer Connector (on engine male plug) through the vessels connecting harness.
