Schematic of the Gate Control System (1) Gate vertical switch (2) Gate horizontal switch (3) Combination valve (4) IQAN (5) Pressure reducing valve (6) Gate horizontal cylinder (7) Line relief valve (8) Diverter valve (9) Orifices (10) Implement control valve (11) Gate vertical cylinders (A) Pump pressure (AA) Pressure tapNote: Machines that are not equipped with the boom tilt system do not use the diverter valve. Oil flows directly from the implement control valve to the gate horizontal cylinder.Switches (1) and (2) are on/off switches. When a switch is pressed, a constant current flows from the switch to the IQAN. The IQAN then sends a constant current to the solenoids for the gate control system. Although the solenoids in the implement control valve are proportional, the solenoids operate in a manner such as an on/off solenoid. The current that is sent to these solenoids can be adjusted in IQAN with the "Ramp Control" setting and the "Maximum Current" setting.

(8) Diverter valve (gate cylinder).Gate Horizontal
When gate horizontal switch (2) is pressed, diverter valve (8) shifts to the right. Pressure oil flows from the implement pump through the implement control valve and the diverter valve. The oil then flows through orifices (9) to gate horizontal cylinder (6). The orifices limit the speed of the cylinder. When the switch is released, no oil flows from the implement control valve. The diverter valve shifts back to the left. The speed of the gate horizontal cylinder can be adjusted with IQAN. Gate Vertical
When gate vertical switch (1) is pressed, pressure oil flows from the implement pump to combination valve (3). Pressure reducing valve (5) reduces the implement pump pressure. The pressure setting of the pressure reducing valve is below the low pressure standby of the implement pump. The pressure setting of the pressure reducing valve can be measured at pressure tap (AA) .When the gate is moved upward, the valve spool in the combination valve moves into the UP position. Pressure oil flows to the head end of gate vertical cylinders (11). Oil from the rod end of the cylinders returns to the hydraulic oil tank. When the gate is moved downward, the valve spool in the combination valve moves into the DOWN position. Pressure oil flows to the rod end of gate vertical cylinders (11). Oil from the head end of the cylinders returns to the hydraulic oil tank. When the gate cylinders are moved to a stalled position, line relief valve (7) activates allowing the high oil pressure in the cylinder to be released to the tank. Line relief valve (7) protects the gate cylinders from high pressure conditions that can occur in the system. The speed of the gate vertical cylinders can not be adjusted with IQAN.
