Raise the hood of the engine compartment.
With the engine off, remove the fittings from the discharge head. Inspect the discharge line for deposits of carbon that are excessive. Inspect the head for deposits of carbon that are excessive. Remove excess carbon deposits. Pay special attention to the air induction system. Pay special attention to the oil supply. Check the oil return. If necessary, repair the compressor or replace the compressor.
Check the compressor for noise that is excessive during operation. Noise indicates a worn coupling. The coupling is for the drive gear. Replace the coupling or adjust the coupling.
Check the mounting bolts for the compressor. Tighten the bolts evenly.
Check for leakage. Check the unloader mechanism for proper operation.
Unlatch the rod for the hood support. Close the hood for the engine compartment.
