Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the drive shaft (pump coupling).
Remove the bottom guard.

Put identification marks on two wires (2), and disconnect the wires.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: There will be a small amount of oil loss when you disconnect the lines from the pump.
Remove two bolts (1) and the washers that hold tube assembly (3) to the power train oil pump.
Disconnect hose assembly (4) from the power train oil pump.

Disconnect hose assembly (5) from the power train oil pump.
Remove four bolts (11) and the washers. Remove tube assembly (3) and oil pump screen (10) from the machine as a unit.
Fasten a hoist and a suitable lifting strap to power train oil pump (6). Remove four bolts (8) and the washers. Remove two nuts (9) and the washers. Remove the power train oil pump from the case. Lower the power train oil pump to the ground. The weight of the power train oil pump is 39 kg (86 lb).
Remove the four O-ring seals from cover (7) .
