Grade Controllers
All Ramsey Grad-Line grade controllers attach to the machine on the end of an adjustable screw jack. The grade controller is secured by two setscrews in an adapter on the end of the screw jack. The screw jack attaches to a support arm which is held by a clamp on the leveling arm.Attach the grade controller to the side of the machine which has the elevation reference. If two elevation references are used, two grade controllers are needed. Locate the grade controller 1/3 to 1/9 times the length of the leveling arm, forward of the screed.Screw Jack
1. Attach the clamp to the leveling arm as shown.2. Install the support arm and screw jack to the clamp. Some Barber-Greene pavers are factory equipped with mechanically adjustable screw jacks for automatic grade controls. The adapter on the end of the jack may need to be changed to fit Grad-Line controllers.G176 Grade Controller
1. Insert the G176 grade controller into the adapter and tighten the setscrews. The lights and indicators should face the rear of the paver. Make sure the grade controller is mounted so the sensing shaft is perpendicular to forward travel and is level.2. Move the ON-STANDBY switch to STANDBY.3. Install the sensing arm. * Over-the-line stringline followers should trail the grade controller module. Rotate the sensor shaft of the controller unit until the flat portion is facing the same direction as the switches and indicator lights. Install the follower on the shaft and tighten the setscrews. * Under-the-line stringline followers should be ahead of the grade controller module. Rotate the sensor shaft of the controller unit until the flat portion is facing away from the switches and indicator lights. Install the follower on the shaft and tighten the setscrews. * Skate (1) and ski (2) followers should trail the grade controller module. The arm should be at a 45 degree angle to the reference when the grade controller is null (no light on). Rotate the sensor shaft of the controller unit until the flat portion is facing the same direction as the switches and indicator lights. Install the follower on the shaft and tighten the setscrews.4. Connect one end of the signal cable to the grade controller. Connect the other end to the junction box on the paver on the same side as the grade controller. Do not let the ends get dirty or wet.
